1. The IELTS is a test that ranks your English communication skill. The richer your English vocabulary, the higher your rank. The highest rank possible is Band 9.0, and the lowest rank possible is Band 1.0

2. IELTS is commonly taken by individuals who want to

* Study in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, USA, or Australia

* Work in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, USA, or Australia

* Relocate to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, USA, or Australia

3. The IELTS test can be taken by anyone and everyone who has completed Junior Secondary School education. For example, plumbers and carpenters have taken IELTS and used it to relocate to Canada to work as plumbers and carpenters. Masters degree holders and even PhD holders have taken IELTS for various purposes too. The important thing is to get trained and to learn before taking the test. The band score needed depends on what you want to do with your IELTS: nurses need a band score of 7.0 to work in the UK as a nurse, students need a band score of 6.5 or 6.0 to study in the UK, US or Canada, Caregivers who want to work in the UK need a band score of 4.5 in UKVI General, and individuals who want to relocate to Canada need a Band score of 7.0 or more (some immigration pathways actually accept band scores as low as 5.0). Please consult with a trained admission or immigration expert for advise on the required band score.

4. IELTS tests come in different types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General. IELTS Academic has the regular version and the UKVI version (IELTS UKVI Academic). Similarly, IELTS General has the regular version and the UKVI version (commonly called IELTS UKVI General).

5. IELTS tests is conducted by two exam bodies in many countries all over the world: British Council and IDP. You can book your IELTS test with any of the two; both are okay.

6. IELTS tests come in two formats: the computer based format and the paper based format. For the computer based test, you will go to the exam centre and take the test, type your answers inside the computer, and the result will be released within 3 - 5 days. Paper based IELTS is not available in Nigeria

7. The IELTS results expires after two years, so you need to ensure that you use it for whatever you want to use it for within two years of taking the test.

8. Currently the fee for the Computer based IELTS test is 279,500naira. Paper based IELTS is currently unavailable for Nigeria. UKVI IELTS is more expensive, and it can be taken in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The regular IELTS can be done in those three cities, and in many other cities like Ibadan, Calabar, Enugu, Benin, Kano, etc.

9. To succeed in IELTS and get a band score of 7.0 or more, we recommend a minimum preparation time of TWO MONTHS. Two months of intensive preparation. Use the first 5 - 6 weeks to take classes with trained experts like tutors here at Tentimesbetter Academy, then use the remaining 3 - 4 weeks to practice lots of questions, so that you can master the strategies and techniques that you have been taught. After this, register for the exam. For qualitative training and support, budget at least 20% to 25% of the exam fee.
